Controller – Abbeville, SC

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing financial leadership and accounting management with the purpose of driving division profitability in partnership with the leadership team while ensuring internal controls are in place for compliance with accounting standards and company policies.  Directs budgeting, audit, tax, banking, and accounting activities.  Has specific responsibility for developing and coordinating necessary and appropriate accounting and statistical data with and for all segments of the business.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains financial records by analyzing balance sheet and general ledger accounts with the purpose of driving business results; interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspect of the company
  • Provides financial information by preparing reports and completing special projects & makes actionable recommendations on how to drive financial performance improvement
  • Maintains accounting controls by setting/following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, local and parent requirements
  • Responsible for the development of standard costs and maintains cost changes in the ERP system
  • Responsible for the overall monthly closing process, including, but not limited to reviewing and approving all journal entries and GL reconciliations, and financial reporting (3-day closing)
  • Responsible for the overall preparation of the annual budget, as well as quarterly forecasts, submitted to parent
  • Responsible for the overall cash management of the company
  • Review, approve and forward half year and annual tax package to Centralized Tax Department. Some preparation involved.
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors
  • Become super user in Epicor and able to train others
  • Review and approve all capital spending to assure conformity with long-range plans and prepare financial payback calculations.
  • Meet all safety requirements
  • Some travel required
  • Manage accounting department of 4 (Financial Analyst, Payroll Coordinator, AR, and AP)

Skills Required:

  • Excellent accounting, math, and reporting aptitude
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation, training and verbal and written communication skills
  • Deadline oriented
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Keen knowledge of reporting systems, able to retrieve information without reliance on IT
  • Ability to create reports and analytical tools

Education & Experience preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related financial discipline
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • 7-10 years minimum accounting experience
  • Knowledge of IFRS a plus
  • Knowledge of FAS a plus
  • Knowledge of Epicor a plus
